Meet the lecturer: Stephen Hall

What is your job role at Harper?

I teach on the taxation modules, as well as, the Introduction to Business and International Investment modules.

Where did you study?

I studied at Harper Adams University from 2003 to 2007.

What are your professional qualifications?

I am a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).

What are your previous job roles?

I previously provided transactional and valuation advice in the East Midlands. Additionally, I worked on real estate investment and valuation projects in Eastern Europe and South America.

What is your specialist subject?

My specialist areas are tax, valuation and international investment, with a particular interest in the application of AI in these fields.

What is your favourite module and why?

One of my favourite modules to teach is International Investment. It's fascinating to explore the diverse opportunities and challenges presented by global markets.

Why do you like working at Harper?

I enjoy working at Harper because of its unique focus on rural land, property, and agricultural education. The supportive and collaborative environment, combined with motivated students who are passionate about the sector, makes teaching here really rewarding. I particularly value the opportunity to help students engage with the industry while integrating modern technologies like AI, ensuring they are well-prepared for future challenges. 

What opportunities do you see for Harper LPM graduates? 

Graduates of Harper Adams University’s Land and Property Management courses have excellent career prospects. They are highly regarded in the sector and can pursue diverse roles in valuation, investment, land management, and rural consultancy. With their strong foundation in practical knowledge, exposure to industry trends, and the ability to leverage modern technologies like AI, they are uniquely positioned to adapt to the challenges and opportunities of a dynamic market.
